There was my parents' 70s record collection, copied to cassette tape:

Fleetwood Mac, the Eagles, Seals & Crofts, the Moody Blues...

In Ghana, I was exposed to a variety of African influences:

Ghanaian highlife, South African mbaqanga, polyrhythms...

Then we were given a cassette called "Free at Last" by dc Talk.

Back in Australia, this led to a growing collection of local and imported CCM:

Jars of Clay, Third Day, Caedmon's Call...

Australian radio also introduced me to a musical past and present on this side of the world:

Powderfinger, Cold Chisel, Hunters & Collectors...

As I finished high school, I listened to a lot of local radio, and went to a lot of concerts. One day, I picked up my mum's guitar. I borrowed a book from the library, and taught myself how to tune the guitar. Then I learnt a few basic chords, put the books aside and started learning songs.

Then came my own songs... and if you listen closely, chances are you'll catch an audio glimpse of some of these influences mentioned.

And what am I listening to these days?

I grew up in Ghana, West Africa, on a mixed musical diet.

Every once in a while I sit down and write some words down.

Every once in a while I sit down and strum some chords on my guitar.

Every once in a while the two coincide...

I hope you enjoy the results.
